I installed CHDK in my Canon SX240. It lets me access RAW files from the camera. RAW files give me a lot more data to work with in PhotoShop and better image quality.
So can you do Fine Art Photography with a point and shoot camera? Of course you can. You can even do Fine Art Photography with your cell phone. The camera is just a tool. For us mere mortals it is usually our creativity that is the limiting factor not the cameras we use.
It isn’t of course, but I thought it had a “Japanese” feel to it. A quick, grab shot while I was out walking the other day. I only managed to take one shot before the bird flew away. Couldn’t have done it without my little Canon camera.
The best camera is the one you have with you!
I always carry my Canon SX240 in my jacket pocket. That means I can get shots like the Winter Birch on my way to do the shopping.
I do have a DSLR and a Mirrorless System Camera but they spend most of their time at home. I only bring them along when the reason I go out is to take pictures. In good light there isn’t much difference in image quality from the DSLR and the point & shoot.
My goal is to take new pictures for this blog, but I will also post older shots from my archives. The one thing (the only thing in fact) they will have in common is that they have all been taken with a small sensor, point and shoot camera.
